North American A-36. This painting features a dive bombing mission over Italy by the late Al Bland of Colorado Springs. Colonel Bland was shot down on this mission and became a POW. The A-36 was a special derivative of the venerable P-51 Mustang that saw extensive use as a close air support aircraft during World War II.
